Multi-hand blackjack strategy
Aside from standard blackjack, multi-hand blackjack is by far one of the most popular variations of the blackjack game. Multi-hand blackjack is just as it sounds. This variation calls for the player to play up to five hands at any given time. In fact, each player is encouraged to play as many hands up to the maximum number.
Players play against only the dealer rather than the opponents. Instead of a single standard deck of 52 cards being used, five decks of 52 cards are used in most online and offline casinos. The objective of the game is still the same as in regular blackjack – get as close to 21 without going over and beating the dealer’s hand.
A few things to know
As with any game, there are a few things, which you should be aware of before you begin playing. These are just a few of the rules, that you may not have been aware of.
Dealer will stand on a soft 17.
You cannot surrender.
You cannot double or re-split once a hand has been split initially.
Doubles allowed on nine’s and up but not on eight’s or less.
The dealer does not peek at his/her hole card until the conclusion of the hand.
Don’t Rush
You want to make sure to take your time. Think each hand through and think about the strategy for each hand. Just because you are playing several hands at once doesn’t mean you should be rushed to finish. If you don’t maintain your composure and remain relaxed then you’ll lose your concentration, which could very well cause you to lose your hands. You should put as much focus on one hand, as you would in a hand of regular single-hand blackjack.
Don’t play too many hands
While you have the option to play as many as five hands that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to or that you should. Sometimes having five hands to deal with and implement strategy with can be too much causing you to become stressed thus losing concentration of the game. If you are just starting, the best thing to do is probably stick to two hands. Move up gradually as you think you can handle an additional hand. If you find that after you move up that, it is too much and you can’t maintain your focus then just move back down to a lower number of hands and go from there.
Consider your bankroll
Your bankroll is a huge part of game. You are playing more hands than in regular blackjack so your bankroll will deplete quicker. You need to ensure you can afford to play more hands at once. In addition, your bankroll may not be able to afford five hands per round but can afford three per round. Consider your bankroll when determining the amount of hands to play. Once you start winning and your bankroll increases, you can then increase the number of hands that you are playing. Your bankroll is everything so it is a priority.
This game definitely gives you a chance at winning more money since you are playing multiple hands rather than a single hand at once. You’ll go through your bankroll quicker since you’ll be playing more than one hand per round so make sure your bankroll can afford the multiple hands. Remember to have fun and good luck!
